WhatsApp Salesforce Integration: Setup Guide (2026)

Connect WhatsApp to Salesforce: save every chat and call on the lead or contact, open cases from a chatbot, and send WhatsApp messages from a Salesforce Flow.

Salesforce holds your pipeline. WhatsApp is where your customers actually answer. This guide shows how to connect the two with MotherBot's Salesforce integration, so WhatsApp conversations land in Salesforce, chatbots can read and write Salesforce records, and a Salesforce Flow can send a WhatsApp message when a deal moves.

What you can do

  • Save chats and calls in Salesforce โ€” every WhatsApp message, sent or received, becomes a Task, and every WhatsApp call a Call, on the matching contact or lead.
  • Turn new chats into leads โ€” each new person who messages you on WhatsApp becomes a Salesforce lead.
  • Bring your Salesforce contacts into MotherBot โ€” for broadcasts, segments and the shared inbox.
  • Look customers up mid-chat โ€” a chatbot finds the contact or lead by phone or email and uses their details.
  • Open a case from WhatsApp โ€” a support chatbot creates a Salesforce Case from the conversation.
  • Save any object โ€” Accounts, Opportunities, Tasks or your own custom objects, from chatbots and workflows.
  • Send WhatsApp from Salesforce โ€” a Salesforce Flow calls MotherBot when an opportunity changes or a lead is assigned.

Before you start

  • A Salesforce org and a user who can approve connected apps.
  • A WhatsApp number connected to MotherBot โ€” the getting started guide covers it.
  • Approved message templates for anyone who hasn't messaged you in the last 24 hours.
  • A MotherBot plan that includes the Salesforce integration โ€” see what each plan includes.

Step 1: Connect Salesforce

  1. In MotherBot, open Integrations โ†’ Salesforce and click Connect.
  2. Sign in to Salesforce and allow access.
  3. Back in MotherBot, the card shows your Salesforce org as connected. Click Bring in contacts or Bring in leads to import them.

Step 2: Choose what is saved automatically

On the card's Settings tab:

SwitchWhat it does
Add new contacts to SalesforceEach new person who messages you on WhatsApp becomes a Salesforce lead.
Save chats and calls in SalesforceEvery WhatsApp message, sent or received, is saved as a Task, and every WhatsApp call โ€” incoming, outgoing, missed or failed, with its length โ€” as a Call, on the contact or lead.

With both on, a sales rep opening a lead in Salesforce sees the whole WhatsApp history without leaving it.

Step 3: Use Salesforce in your chatbots

The chatbot builder gains four Salesforce steps:

StepWhat it does
Salesforce LookupFinds a contact or lead by phone or email, so the bot can greet them by name or check their account.
Salesforce PushCreates a lead or contact, or updates it if it exists, with what the customer told the bot.
Salesforce CaseOpens a support case from the conversation.
Salesforce: Save a recordCreates or updates a record of any object โ€” Accounts, Opportunities or your own custom objects.

A typical support bot: look the customer up, ask what's wrong, open a Case with their answer, and reply with the case number. A typical sales bot: ask three qualifying questions, push the lead with the answers, and hand the chat to a person in the shared inbox.

Step 4: Use Salesforce in workflows

Workflows can create a record, update a record, find a customer (in Contacts, then Leads) and save a record in any object. For example: when an appointment is booked on WhatsApp, create a Task on the Salesforce contact for the rep who owns it.

Step 5: Send WhatsApp messages from a Salesforce Flow

This is for whoever builds your Salesforce automation.

  1. On the Salesforce card's Settings tab, copy the Endpoint URL and the secret header (X-SF-Secret).
  2. In Salesforce, add an HTTP Callout action to your Flow and point it at that address, with the secret in the header.
  3. Send the customer's phone number and either a template name (with its variables) or a plain message.

Now "Opportunity moves to Proposal Sent" can send the customer a WhatsApp message with the proposal link, and "Lead assigned" can introduce the rep by name.

A plain message only reaches someone who messaged you in the last 24 hours. For anything else โ€” which is most Flow-triggered messages โ€” send an approved template.

What it costs

  • Salesforce charges for your Salesforce licence.
  • Meta charges for WhatsApp template messages, replies after the first 1,000 a month on each number, and calls your business makes, and bills your WhatsApp Business Account directly. MotherBot adds no markup. See current WhatsApp rates.
  • MotherBot charges for its plan. See pricing.

Frequently asked questions

Can Salesforce send WhatsApp messages?

Yes, through MotherBot. A Salesforce Flow's HTTP Callout action can send a WhatsApp template or message to a customer when a record changes โ€” for example when an opportunity moves stage or a lead is assigned.

Are WhatsApp chats saved in Salesforce?

Yes. With "Save chats and calls in Salesforce" on, every WhatsApp message is saved as a Task and every WhatsApp call as a Call on the matching contact or lead.

Can a WhatsApp chatbot create Salesforce cases?

Yes. The Salesforce Case step in the chatbot builder opens a case from the conversation, using what the customer told the bot.

Does it work with custom Salesforce objects?

Yes. The "Salesforce: Save a record" chatbot step and the workflow steps can create or update records of any object, including your own custom objects.
